ARTS610 // Principles of Typography
Students are assigned a random typeface from Google Fonts. They visually analyze a grid of all the letterforms in the font, and then experiment with different ways to compose the three letterforms into a composition by moving the letters around, playing with scale and position. Students created at least two different compositions—paying attention to scale, figure and ground, relationships between and among the letters, and the overall shape of the mark.
The following examples come from three separate semesters.
